The insurance claims professional’s responsibilities generally involve the technical ability to resolve issues of coverage, liability, and damages. The process of investigation, evaluation and resolution is one that relies on a sound fundamental understanding of the issues in order to discharge their contractual responsibilities to their customers. This webinar is designed to provide an overview of the historical perspective, the current perspective, and a view to the future in order to understand the complex issues that has surround this emerging peril. In addition, the class provides insight into the liability evaluation issues that arise in the wake of a spoliation claim. The understanding of the tactical issues will assist adjusters in recognizing such potential claims and protecting their insureds’ exposure.

Meet our presenters:

Sally Noma is the founding attorney of Noma Law Firm APC specializing in large loss property subrogation throughout California. Ms. Noma has been an insurance professional since before she was an attorney. She served as a Claims Adjuster, and then as an Education Consultant with Allstate Insurance Company, where she trained employees in Department of Insurance policies, procedures, and coverage provisions. Spending nearly her entire legal career in the property subrogation space, Ms. Noma is both passionate about and deeply experienced in California specific subrogation issues. She has litigated catastrophic water and fire losses on behalf of the largest property insurers throughout the state of California.

Ulises Castellon, CPCU, RPA, has worked as a claims professional for over thirty-five years. In 1996, he associated with Fire Cause Analysis, a premier forensic investigation and engineering firm, and is currently Chief Executive Officer. He is also the principal of a consulting business, Claims Analysis. As an insurance consultant and expert witness, Ulises has managed numerous first- and third-party cases through litigation and has extensive deposition and trial testimony experience. In addition, he regularly teaches courses on issues ranging from Arson and Fraud Investigation to Fair Claims Practices.
